Back To School Series!

The smell of overly priced textbooks, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and students crying over financial aid is in the air… Fall Semester is here!

Fall is my favorite season by far. With football, crunchy leaves to step on, and scarves… Or maybe it’s just that I live in the perfect city for all those to be an option for me. But seriously. Fall is my soul jam.

With this lovely season comes the daunting Fall Semester. Sure you had a summer of fun and shameless nights, but it’s time to get your head in the game (I may or may not have just watched High School Musical on Netflix… Sue me). I have noticed more and more people asking “How are you going to organize this?” “What do I get to organize this?” All met with somewhat half answered replies about how Michael’s has everything they need. STOP THERE! Yes Michael’s has everything your heart desires, but you have to KNOW what you’re organizing or downsizing before you can buy what you need.

For instance… Would you go out and buy a new dresser when you’re clothes are lying everywhere? Heck no. You would wash everything, evaluate whether or not you’ll wear it again, and either hang it up or put it in the donation pile. Simple as that, and that’s how back to school shopping should be.

Know what you’re getting into. If you’ve been in college before you probably know what organizational style works best for you, but if this is your first year you’ve probably been on Pinterest looking at organizational styles for the last 3 months since graduation.

That’s where this series comes in. I’m no expert on organization, and my closet is a fair example. But when it comes to my education, you better believe everything is color coded and bookmarked. I’m going to be putting a few posts up in this series that may help the veteran college attendee or help the shiny new Freshmen. So stick around, do some studying, take a break, and check out this series all throughout the month of September.

Love, Marissa♥

Next Week! LA2015

At the end of this week I’ll be traveling to Los Angeles, California to volunteer and run press for Special Olympics Idaho at the Special Olympics World Games. I’m so incredibly thankful for this, but I will be either rarely posting here or not at all.

To stay up to date on all of the exciting things that will be happening please check out our department’s blog at I will be posting all of the exciting things I see and do to that blog.

Have a great week everyone! See you on the flip side.

xoxo Marissa

Kikki.K 2015 Personal Planner Review

The brand new Kikki.K 2015 Personal Planners have arrived and I’m in love. The design is flawless and the colors are absolutely perfect for this season. This was my first ever ring planner order, but I felt it was time to jump in and test out the water.

I’ve been wanting to take my Plum Paper Planner out of the coil, and put it in a ring bound planner. With the new designs I figured I’d try my hand at it.

When I placed my order I knew I had to get the upgraded shipping because I was leaving town shortly after and wanted to move my Plum Paper into it. The International Priority shipping says it takes 3-5 days, and my package arrived in the 5th day. Which was totally fine for me.

5 Things Every University Student Needs

Oh yeah… We’re going there. As we approach August the College Frenzy begins, and I know how I was when I was going through it. What things are important, what do I need, what matters. All in all here is my Top 5 things that every University student needs.

This may seem obvious, but for some reason I still see people struggling with this all over campus. If you’re a full time student invest in a functional backpack with a laptop sleeve and compartments. It will make things and study trips so much less stressful. You don’t need an Osprey backpacking pack, but a little Michael Kors one isn’t going to cut it either. I personally opted for the North Face Recon pack. It has a laptop sleeve, tablet sleeve, and a mesh outer pocket for random things you might need to bring with you. My favorite thing about it is the extra padding on my lower back and shoulders so that I don’t hurt myself when I’m hiking across campus to the library.

If you’re more of a tote kind of gal (like myself) then invest in one that is cute AND functional. I say this because you’ll probably end up using it as a purse when you’re running errands before and after class. And you want it to look great with everything if you’re going to be using it that often. My current favorites are my Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Large Tote and Kate Spade large tote. I swap between these two frequently throughout the semester since my Kate Spade has about twice as much room as my Michael Kors does. They are so perfect and totally durable.

Motivational Monday: Summer Bucket List

Now that I am officially done with Summer School I can start my Summer Break. Woooo!

So to celebrate I’ve created a small yet reasonable summer bucket list that can be completed in the two months left of my summer. So let’s get to it. I’ll share the progress as I go… Most likely on my Instagram @planningpineapple.

I may have crossed off a few already because I like to put things on my checklist just so I can cross them off… Who doesn’t? Don’t judge me.

What are some things you want to accomplish before September 1st? Leave them in the comments below!

Spotlight Saturday: Stickers Gonna Stick

I’ve been super excited about this package even before I placed the order and because the entire set is completely pineapple themed. So obviously I needed it.

Well it finally made it’s way to Idaho from Italy! It took roughly 2 days from the time the order was placed until it was in the mail, and roughly a week for it to be delivered. I’m definitely not complaining about that time frame at all!

Here’s what the set looked like inside the packaging:

How precious?!

What I’m Doing: July

Oh baby… This last month has been incredibly busy with the end of my Summer Semester, but I’m just so glad that it’s over!!

But now that it’s over I can focus on work and getting prepared for the Fall Semester. For those of you that don’t know I work for Special Olympics Idaho, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s the best job I could have ever asked for. We have had State Summer Games and our biggest fundraiser all in the last 3 weeks, and it was just so crazy around the office that I couldn’t focus on anything else. Along with my job I am currently the President of Special Olympics College at Boise State University, and we do some pretty cool stuff throughout the year. I figured I’d take the next two months before classes start back up to get things organized {because obviously} and planned out before the year starts when I’ll have classes, football season, etc.  Continue reading
